R&D CENTRE'S EXPERTISE

MedPharm has extensive expertise in nasal drug delivery formulation development in order to produce systemic or local drug delivery for a variety of diseases.

All formulations developed by MedPharm are being targeted towards maximum thermodynamic activity (i.e. saturated solubility) as this generally leads to a maximum driving force and greatest flux of the drug. Thus, the formulations to be developed should be:

• Stable,
• Non-irritant,
• Non-toxic,
• Non-odorous,

and achieve optimum delivery as solutions, suspensions or dry powders when applied in the form of the following nasal delivery systems:

• Drops,
• Sprays,
• Gels,
• Powders.

The Cell Culture Unit has the expertise to study the release and the absorption of the drug across the mucous membrane.
